Lichtwellenleiter-, measurement and connection technique of optical fiber passes through increasingly all areas of life. The multimode fiber allows data rates in terms of in-house 10 Gbit/s to transfer over several hundred meters. The single-mode fiber is used in the long-distance traffic. It can transport about hundred-th km data rate of 10 Gbit/s and 40 Gbit/s and 100 Gbit/s. With the help of the Wavelengthsmultiplex, the transmission capacity can be multiplied. Worldwide, the optic fibre is laid millions up in the House, the home or the Office (FTTB/FTTH). This application will be in Germany in the next few years a huge importance.
First course was set for this purpose by the broadband initiative of the Federal Government. Engineers and technicians from the telecommunication and data technology are by Dr. Dieter Eberlein, – longtime expert on the birth of fiber optic technology, familiarized with fiber optic technology. The physical fundamentals, basic measurement (attenuation measurement, return true), connectivity as well as basic application possibilities of the fibre optic cable (FOC) when compared to other media are practical in the seminar of fibre optic technology, on April 12, 2010, at the Haus der Technik in Munich, deepened.
